PostHeaderIcon Do Billiard Balls Wear Down?

Have you ever wondered if billiard balls wear down? Well within just a year of play, it would surprise you that it could wear down. It actually just wear down to a size that would come to a point of not meeting anymore the requirement of most billiard sets in terms of equipment. The cue ball is what mostly wears down easily since it is struck with a cue tip and it comes in contact with the billiard table cloth each and every single shot. It is also expected that it could be launched off from the billiard table at times.

Due to so much friction, the billiard balls wear down more quickly especially with the cloth becoming dirtier due to all the chalk dust that settles in it. Remember that billiard chalk is made of very fine sand and hence the billiard table cloth acts like a rough sandpaper.

PostHeaderIcon The Benefits of a Break Cue

If you are not running on a tight budget, then you would find a break cue very helpful in your billiard performance. The most apparent benefit it can bring would be the fact that it will not mess up the tip of the cue that you are using for your game. You simply hammer it in to the cue ball.

After some time of solid playing time, the average cue tip can really lead to being misshapen and unaligned from the unceasing abuse that it gets from the break shots. It can also cause the tip to flatten out and even take the shape of a mushroom. To own a break cue can really add life to your playing cue. That is definite.

You may also want to have a decent cue that are made specifically for the break shots which you can simply transport around to a variety of pool venues.

    PostHeaderIcon Billiard Stance Head Positioning

This billiard stance head positioning is the most critical part of the drill. The most important part is the shot’s aim right from the head. You bow down the elbow, the bridge, and cue right into place under the head. Once the elbow, bridge and the cue are all in place, all the lining right behind the shot should be made complete.

Bend your head down as straight as possible to keep a very consistent view of the shot. Whatever shape you settle on for the base in the pelvis, feet and legs, the most important thing is that you stay down comfortably and be evenly weighted right between the feet and legs. If you would have a little more weight on your front leg and the foot is fine, then what is too much would be disastrous, as this would put too much weight right onto the bridge and left arm that would restrict the swinging movement.

    PostHeaderIcon Billiard Stance Body Positioning

Billiard stances are composed of two styles. The first one is body positioning. Step one is about observing the line of shot stand using your head and eyes. The Eye of Grip is the V formation between your thumb and the forefinger. You must observe the line of shot by just looking at the pocket and then right at the cue ball and object ball all together. It forms an imaginary line in between the cue ball and the object ball that really aims at the object ball right into the pocket.

The snooker stance on the other hand requires that you stand on you right leg and foot straight. Then just outside the line of shot, slightly turn to the right. How much you position the right foot right outside the line of shot will determine how you center you remain right behind the shot. If your stance is too off centered, then the stance would be too uncomfortable with a lot of weight.

    PostHeaderIcon Billiard Stance Techniques

The billiard stances are composed of two styles: the snooker and the side on stance. You need a step by step drill structure to discuss the two broad categories of the stance style. If you are left handed, then you need to switch right with left. The snooker stance is just about being flat on the table and square on and off the center behind the shot. It is really an off centered stance.

The side on stance is the complete opposite of the snooker stance in a manner that the body is positioned side on. It is also centered to the shot’s line instead of the of square and on and off centered. It can also be as flat on the table as the snooker stance or it can also be elevated with the head positioned off the cue. All these stance techniques are really important to perform well in the sport.

PostHeaderIcon The Billiard Stun Stroke Stop Shot

Once all your billiard fundamentals are correct and you find yourself shooting with a straight cue, then you would need to master the stun stroke. This shot is so important because it renders you a reference for a cue ball positioning. This shot will produce a stop shot. The ball stops as soon as it makes contact with the object ball.

There are factors that influence this shot would be a blend of the following: force, cue tip location, quickness, and follow through. There is also an infinite number of combinations of these variables that lead to a stop shot. Play with all these variables until you reach the point that you can manipulate each one and have some cue ball position. You have to measure your follow through with just a tiny force or just only a 1” of follow through with a big force that would produce a stop shot.
